Pitbull, American rapper, singer-songwriter and record producer, had a live concert in Manila which was part of his Planet Pit World Tour, held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Armando Christian Perez is better known by his stage name Pitbull, or his other nicknames, Lil’ Chico or Mr. 305. Pitbull is one of the most talented and dynamic artists in the music industry, and for that reason they have given him his third nickname “Mr. Worldwide.” There is a song called Mr. Worldwide, which is the Intro for his newest album released in 2011. He tries to explain this nickname in it so check it out. Pitbull’s pop culture influence on social networks, radio and television is practically unrivaled. Pitbull has over 400 million Youtube views, making him the third most watched artist after Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Cool huh?
Now let me tell you about the night of the concert. My friend and I went to Smart Araneta Coliseum straight from our review. We went to the office to get our tickets, had dinner, entered the gates, it was exactly 8pm.
While waiting for the show to start, I started a convo with our seatmates and made friends with them. I had a nice chat with Grayson, Kitty, Aaron and Diane. (ATW’s Free Tickets to Pitbull Contest Winners) We talked about atthewomb.com, the contest, the concert, and other stuff. They were really nice and friendly, and I was so glad to have been able to meet them.

The DJ from Cebu!

Opening the show was a DJ from Cebu, but I kinda forgot his name since I was really excited for Pitbull to hit the stage. The Dj warmed up the crowd with his set and I have to say that he did an amazing job! The front act was great! At 9pm, after the Dj’s set was done, an announcement was made saying that there would be a 15min intermission. We patiently waited in our seats. I, along with every single person in the filled up coliseum, was so excited to see Pitbull that we couldn’t contain our excitement. After 35mins of waiting, screaming and cheering…Bang! Pitbull finally came out! We started dancing our hearts out. Woohoo!

Favorite moment: Pitbull came on stage and we all had the same feeling of “Yes! This is exactly why we are here!”
Everything went from great to awesome! And everyone was just ecstatic about it! I can still imagine what happened when Pitbull made his entrance, it was like, BOOM! The whole place went sooo wild as we all feasted our eyes to Pitbull. Wooh!
He performed some of his hits while the audience danced to the beats. Soon he broke into some dance moves, which drove the crowd crazier. It was so amazing! Pitbull is one heck of a performer. He used the whole stage for running around, having a blast, and interacting with the crowd. My friend & I even made our own dance steps just to add more fun while enjoying the beats of Pitbull’s music.
Pitbull is an incredible performer. His fast-paced Latin reggae-style is entrancing and energetic. He’s saying ‘‘dale’’ in his songs which means ‘‘c’mon or come on’‘. He really knew how to play to the crowd! The music and the band were unbeatable. He dressed well, danced well and his enthusiasm and charisma were contagious. The audience really loved him.

My favorite moment, aside from his appearance, was when he sang “Give Me Everything”, he rallied the crowd into a singing and dancing frenzy. I loved it! I loved the way the audience danced like there was no tomorrow. Can’t wait to do it again. High energy, kept you entertained. I thought it would be best if booze were served at the venue during the show, right? It was just a thought. Lol ![]()
He performed the hits “I Know You Want Me,” “Bon Bon,” “Hotel Room Service,” “Krazy,” “Move Shake Drop,” and many more, though he didn’t sing the songs in their entirety. I believe Pitbull’s explosive collaborations with Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Ne-Yo, and others has made him one of the most active and renown artists in the world.
The crowd was having fun, but then something weird happened. Pitbull said goodnight, thank you and stepped offstage. I was expecting an encore but there was not a single sign that he was gonna show up again. My friend and I were screaming “Mooorree! We want mooorree!” The crowd just stood there silent. Nobody left. They just stood in place quietly… it was really weird. Then slowly some of them started going out. Something was really wrong; the show started so late and ended too soon. And I can’t believe the new generation just walks away without demanding an encore, but I still have to give the concert two thumbs up!
Pitbull was great; I wish he played a little more as he only played for just almost an hour. Much better if he sang City of Gods, Turn Around and Boomerang. But all in all, it was a fantastic show.

What an experience! Great concert! We really had a blast! I hope everyone enjoyed the night as much as I did. ![]()
