quark's top 10

After making the epic Top 50 Albums from 2000-2009, Music video, film and commercial Director and Us-2, Evil-0 / Blast Ople vocalist Quark Henares finally released his annual “Top 10 Musical Long-Playing Recordings of 2010”! A tradition he’s been doing since 2003, his list has always been anticipated by most music lovers, simply because how could you not want to find out what the most OC music fan (find out how and why here ) thinks of the albums that were released last year? Plus, it’s a great way to find out what you missed, and what you should be listening to.

Hit the jump for the list.

Quark Henares’ Top 10 Albums of 2010:

10. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
9. Interpreting the Masters Vol. 1 - A Tribute to Daryl Hall & John Oates
8. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
7. The National - High Violet
6. Hannah + Gabi - haha yes
5. Spoon - Transference
4. Massive Attack - Heligoland
3. The Roots - How I Got Over
2.LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
1. Foals - Total Life Forever

I’m actually surprised that with some of the albums that made it to a lot of international top 10 lists, Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” didn’t make it to his. I do have to agree though that The Foals’ “Total Life Forever” deserves to be recognized for going for a different musical direction but still keeping the unique Foals’ sensibilities. LCD Soundsystem’s “This Is Happening” is personally my favorite album of last year, and I’m glad to see it on the list as well.

Although according to Quark, last year’s music wasn’t so “game-changing” as he had expected, the list still deserves to be checked out, just to have a quick glance of the music in 2010.
