Today is a very exciting day for the local music industry. Not only are we about to announce the artists for this years Tanduay First Five T5 tour, Taken By Cars will also be departing for the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, but we are also launching Paalam Pilipinas: A Sugarfree Documentary.
Shot last March 1, 2012 during the final day of the existence of Sugarfree, this 4-part music documentary will surely light up your computer screens as fans will get to witness the emotions that ran through the fans and the band, as they prepared for their final appearance as a band, in their final moments prior to breaking up after a 12 year long successful career.

As with all art, there comes a time when an artist must simply say, “it’s done.” However, this is easier said than done. Take for example a painter with one of his pieces. How do you actually know when you’re completely finished and not even one more stroke of the brush is needed to complete the piece? For musicians at a studio finalizing the album, how can you tell when all the frequencies and volumes are exactly where they need to be? The task can be daunting and oftentimes you can’t really tell when it’s done and you just have to commit to stopping the work and accepting it for what it is.
As for the editing of Sugarfree’s Paalam Pilipinas Documentary, that’s not quite the case. Last night I went to our post-production office to check out the editing and to see where it was at, and it’s far from being done. All the parts were in place but a lot still needs to be completed. Volume adjustments, cuts, adding a couple of other parts from the other takes, etc.

* Paalam Pilipinas will air exclusively on www.atthewomb.com starting March 9, 2012.

Someone from Tumblr created characters of Pinoy Bands such as Sandwich, Mayonaise and Itchyworms (as seen above), and took it to a whole another cuteness level by animating them! Hit the jump to see the animated gifs and more.

March 1, 2011 marked the last Sugarfree performance ever, and it was quite memorable, as hundreds (even thousands) of fans rushed to Eastwood Central Plaza despite the rain to hear their favorite band for one last time. Since that day, we haven’t heard from any of the band members, until now. After weeks of silence, vocalist Ebe Dancel finally gives his message for the Sugarfree fans on his Facebook page.
Read the full message after the cut.

Sugarfree has been a part of the Admit One family since their early days, which is why tonight’s gig is very special to them, and to us as well. I also saw from @gangbadoy that this event will be in partnership with Rock Ed.
Catch their last Admit One gig tonight at Saguijo, at 9:30PM along with fellow bands Peryodiko and Duster.
